They have the same mechanical properties which is the criterion to select

Conditions
Pipe oleoducte oil: service: diesel, gas90, naphta
Pressure 1000 psi
Temperature : 50 celsius
Length : 7 km


Pipe oleoducte oil: r7. heavy oil
Pressure 1000 psi
Temperature : 50 celsius
Length : 7 km

Since you say oleoducto I assume you are designing to a pipeline code such as ASME B31.4, in which case you should select API 5L. Properties are the same, but fabrication, testing and inspection criteria are different.

But that material will be mandatorius??, why? here I attach a plane, am analyzing a crossing of buried pipeline and have to decide, please recommend to me some reference where to consult for material , i have to chose between API 5L oe ASTM A53 GB

Based on what I see in your plan, I agree that this is a pipeline application and BigInch's recommendation to use API 5L.

A footnote...B31.3 also allows API 5L per one of the last footnotes to Table A.1.

But its even more important to use B31.4 when you do it.

Most seamless carbobn steel pipe is quadruple stamped as A-53 B, A-106, API 5L B & 5LX-42. Take your pick.

Not sure what planet I was on that gave me the idea that the B31.3 material substitution was relevant here.

I think I'm losing it...been on vacation for too long.

Probably because stanweld mentioned a lot of the other codes, but not 31.3 and paired with that its a worthy additional notation, especially when considered in light of Cesar never actually having told us which code he is using, which just might be 31.3. My comment (usual rant) was more about the use of B31.3 for pipelines (in error) when the code to use really should be B31.4 or B31.8.
