Hi,

I have a project in which API 10000 valves are used with material class EE & also HH
as per API 6A, body/bonnet/flanges/end connectors shall be 60K material.

We use API 694 F60 as body/bonnet/flanges which is a 60k material and SS 316/316L for trim material which is a 30k material?

Please clarify is there any requirement for trim materials to be 60k material for 10000 rating valves as per API 6A.

or my current design is in fully compliance with API 6A?

In API 6A, there is no reference to TRIM material's mechanical strength requirements for a specific rated working pressure like what it is specified for Body/Bonnet/End Connectors in Table 7 of API6A. For Trim material, it shall be as per Manufacturer's (OEM's), written specification based on design calculations.

Are you making a gate valve? if you make a seat or gate from 30k material using 10k PSI the parts wouldn't pass API calculations. Our gate valve uses 75k material for the bonnet, body, flange, etc, and 75k trim or higher for the valve trim. We typically use 410SS 75k for the stem, gate, and body bushings or seats depending on the valve FC or FLS. I personally would never use 316 for any trim part of a gate valve, choke or check valve with a 10,000 psi rated valve. 316ss is being phased out for use in gate valves and chokes. You can't use 316 SS for inlays and its max temp range is 150F for NACE requirements.
