Hi, what apps do you use to design base plates for steel structures? Is there something you recommend? Any free tool available? I have been using several, but I find all of them limited to some extend. For instance:

1) Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis: I cannot specify additional reinforcement to control edge breakout.
2) Hilti Profis engineering: mostly for post-installed anchors, with few cast in place anchors. No hooked anchors. (*edited)
3) WÜRTH TECHNICAL SOFTWARE: only for post-installed anchors.
4) Peikko Designer: only for Peikko products, cannot specify additional reinforcement to control edge breakout.

Thanks!

For what its worth profis does handle cast in place anchors.

Thanks structSU10, you are right, I hadn´t noticed. I will edit my post accordingly. I didn't find a hooked anchor though, only a headed threaded bar.

Recommendation: Don't use hoooked bars.

Additionally, don't allow the contractor to wet stick the anchors.

Please note that is a "v" (as in Violin) not a "y".

I will suggest you to look You will see the pdf docs ( design manual connection steel to concrete with worked examples )
InFaSo_Design-manual_I_En
InFaSo_Design-manual_II_En

Moreover, you can download excel spreadsheets.

My suggestion would be to develop your own spreadsheet software.

Use it up, wear it out;
Make it do, or do without.

Does anyone have a good design example (*.pdf or *.xls) for headed studs subjected to shear and tension that I can modify to add to a small SMath program that addressed studs?
