Hey guys, so I know on regular anchors we upsize the holes in the baseplate, but what about expansion anchors? Are the holes the same size in that case?

It is better not to guess with anchors. They are manufactured units and the companies that make them have readily available technical literature that will give you all the installation requirements.

Kwik Bolt 3 wedge anchors are common in my line of work. Here is the requirement for them (bit diameter = anchor diameter != fixture diameter)

On the other hand, HSL anchors have a different nominal diameter than the drill bit.

Drill bit size relative to anchor diameter also sometimes changes (i.e. is not a consistent 1/6" more or whatever). It's just better to look at the info for the anchor you are specifically using.

Ideally yes, they are a perfect fit.

Note that the overall size is often larger than the nominal diameter, ie the inner bolt is smaller than the expansion sleeve.
