Hello and thank you in advance for your responses.

I am studying for the October SE Exam and I see what I believe is the code contradicting itself.

All references are to ASCE 7-10 3rd printing

Extreme Weak Story Irregularity as described in Table 12.3-2 (5b) references the following sections for (SDC) Seismic Design Categories D, E, & F:

12.3.3.1 - I interpret this section as prohibiting Extreme Weak Story Irregularities.
Table 12.6-1 - If I a reading this table correctly, SDC D, E, & F may be analyzed using all three noted analytical procedures (looking at the 2nd case from the bottom.

As you see one reference prohibits the irregualrity while the other provides direction on which procedure to analyze it with.

Can someone confirm my conclusion? OR advise me why I am incorrect?

Check the errata - 5b was deleted from table 12.6-1.

Thank you, when I searched for the errata, the download was only the revised wind speed maps for Alaska.

REVISE TABLE 12.6-1 TO DELETE THE “TYPE 5B” ENTRY UNDER THE STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS
COLUMN. SECTION 12.3.3.1 PROHIBITS VERTICAL IRREGULARITY TYPE 5B IN STRUCTURES ASSIGNED TO
SDC D OR HIGHER.

@wannabe, got it.

Thanks again JAE!
