In note 8 they give what appears to be a limit on the length the load 2 or 2E wind is applied. Ex. for transverse wind (case A) the 2E area is 2a wide, and would extend back toward the ridge a distance which can be limited by note 8, with the balance as zone 3, thus the zone 2E may not extend to the ridge as in their diagrams. Does this apply to the longitudinal wind (case B), and if so how is it applied? If applicable to longitudinal wind, would the 2E loading extend beyond the 2a distance shown in the diagram?

The errata clarified that this is for Type A only and they changed the language to say "perpendicular to the ridge line" instead of "parallel" to the wind direction.

Go to the ASCE website and download the errata.
