Hello Friends

Good Evening !!!!!

I am designing a ASME Sec.8 Div.2 Column Of 3800mm Id X 82mm Thk X 81400 mm having Design pressure of 6400 Kpa @ 82 deg c temp. & Steam Out 0.5 bar @149 deg.c
Skirt Supported Vessel

Equipment is failing in Combination of loads as per clause 4.4.12.2(e): lc > 1.2 is outside of permitted range.

Can Anybody help me how to overcome with this failure. what is solution for this issue.

Recommended for you

Stiffening rings, thicker shell, or shorter column are the options that immediately come to mind. If you have trays in your column, you could use the tray supports as internal stiffening rings. Otherwise, external stiffening rings are advised.
 
Please detail your calculations, so that we may assist you better.

fegenbush, unfortunately, external stiffening rings are not a prescribed option available in Part 4. In order to use them, you would need to demonstrate their adequacy through a Part 5 set of analyses.

Stiffining rings won't work.. Only solution is FEA but I don't understand failure..

I was really hoping that you would share the complete set of calculations for 4.4.12. There's a lot of intermediate calculations that goes into the calc, and they all provide insight into your problem. What you have presented so far is only about 20% of the inputs.
