Dear all,

Asphalt in a 6" pipe is cooled by passing in an open box full of flowing water, a "cloud" of water vapors is rising from this box (the amount depends on weather).

How can we eliminate or reduce significantly the water vapors?

Regards,
roker

Roker, get rid of the box cooler and install a LP steam generator instead.

Best Suggestion;Although may involve initial capital cost. But definitely very short pay-out period.

If all you want to do is to eliminate the cloud of steam above the box, put a cover on the box. Raise the flowrate until the water in the box is no longer boiling.

But, It is a shame to waste all those BTUs. Carbon emissions or not, those BTUs are being paid for.

CJKruger's suggestion for an LP Steam generator is good, or you could pump the hot water to a preheater (economiser) for combustion air for the same burner that heats the asphalt.
