Question: How do you all report liquid limit and plastic limit . . . say Liquid limit as 45 or 45%; Plastic Limit as 20 or 20%; Plasticity Index - 25 or 25%

ASTM says to report as a whole number - do not use % . . . BS Standards use % . . just wanting to get your take.

(sort of like do you write grey or gray)!!!

With my 18 years at Law Engineering (George Sowers was one of the founders and set the pace for all things geotechnical), it was universal to report with no %.

I typically report with no %. The explanation about the limits being water contents yet, more importantly, soil behavior indices has always resonated with me.

Thanks all - sorry I haven't been on for a bit. This is how I always reported, too - no %, but I have seen inconsistencies in the literature and in books (typically when figures are taken from other sources).
[cheers]
