Augmented offgas (AOG) Treatment, what is it?

Would You please explain me what is meant by "augmented offgases"?
Are AOGs conceived as thermodestructive machinery mainly, and what is their difference from thermal oxidisers?
As far as I know AOGs treat liquid waste and oxidise them with waste heat recovery to the plant service.
