I got a journal file which is used to export all the sheet in a file to a selected folder
Issue: When i am running this journal in native UGNX7.5 there is no problem, where as when i am running the same file in UGNX7.5 file connected through TcE it is showing error message. (Error occurred in PDF export Teamcenter Error: Internal Error journal existing)

Thanks in advance.

Are you looking to create the pdf's in teamcenter (create a new dataset) or export them outside of teamcenter (to a folder on the native filesystem)?

Cowski,
Somewhat hyjacking the thread... Do you know of a direct way to create pdfs in TC (new dataset).

Currently, I export the pdf to my desktop from NX and then create a new dataset from TC and fetch the file.

We are running 7.5 / TC8...

COWSKI,

Thank you, its working well.

Dtharrett,

I have seen that tool, if we open a drawing and click that option it will creat a pdf in that dataset, is this your requirement.

if it is so i will try to get that one for you.

I was wondering as well about the Teamcenter PDF.
Does anyone know if there was a way to set up a Teamcenter workflow that will automatically create the pdf. I would like to attach that function to automatically create the pdf after a release.

The TC install I am currently working with does not allow the addition of pdf files, so I cannot do any testing.

However, next time you export a pdf, expand the 'Destination' section and you will find options (the 'action' drop down menu) that allow you to create a new data set, overwrite existing, append existing, or export out of TC (file browser). Try out these options to get what you want then record a journal of the steps you took. You can then customize the journal to make it more general (work with the current open file rather than the specific file open when you recorded the journal).

Cowski,
I mistyped my original question. I meant to ask is there a way to directly export a parasolid to teamcenter. Currently I export to my desktop and then create a new dataset in TC.

BTW, the file->export->pdf works great as it dumps a pdf directly into teamcenter.

NX7.5 & TC8

Thanks

COWSKI,

some how it is generating the pdf and i found some issue which i tried to resoved but couldn't get them resolved, it will be helpful if you resolve the same

1. when i am seleting the path which was second level as shown in red color in the attachment it is not generating the PDF, but still it is shonw that it has created the PDF with a message
2. where as if i select a drive (not the folder inside the drive) it is creating the PDF (as highlighted in green color in the attachment)
3. As we are not adding the water mark can you please remove the option (message)"Add Advanced watermark?"
4. Name of the PDF file should be with out the "_rev"
Ex: FILENAME_D.pdf instead we need just FILENAME.pdf

Thank in advance

COWSKI,

Thank you very much, its working well.
I forgot to mention about a bug earlier i.e. when PDF is already existing in that selected folder and when that previous PDF it opened, in such case if i click to over write the PDF option it is giving an error message, instead we can put a message "PDF IS ALREADY OPENED"

But any way i am happy as it is a rearcase which i explained above and the one you have given is working fine.

COWSKI,

I am testing this tool as well as using for exporting the PDF's. I observed one thing, some times the when the sheet are more (Ex: 11 sheets) is it not generating the PDF in the sequencial order.
Ex: 1,7,8,9,10,3,4,5,6,2,11

Kindly let me know if any solution.

chandragudla,

Thanks for the feedback, I've made a few changes that will hopefully solve both problems. The previous version used a simple For Each... Next loop to step through the collection of drawing sheets, this appears to output the sheets in creation order rather than sheet order (ie if a new sheet was inserted and renamed/reordered, it was not output in the proper place). The new version sorts the sheet names alphabetically before it outputs the pdf. As long as you have an orderly sheet naming convention it should work OK. If you try to overwrite a pdf file that is currently open you will now get an error message and the journal will exit. If I find a good way to close the open file before writing the pdf file, I will add it to a future version.

Feedback from anyone and everyone is appreciated.

COWSKI,

Thank you very much, it is working well.

As i am using this tool and i am saving lot of time. I dont have much knowledge on writting Journals can you please look into these improvements.

1. If user want to select only few sheets, sequencially or randomly, can we provide a user selection dialog for the same
2. Can we add YES/NO update sheets before PDF generation ? This will be asked only if we have outoff date sheets.
3. Can we put Save YES/NO before PDF creation? This will be asked only if the file is not shaved i.e. file showing modified

Reasons for above functionalities are
1. If a file is having 25 sheets out of which some caseses user wants only first 15 sheets (sequencially) or first 5 sheets and last 5 sheets (randomly).
2. If a file is having 25 sheets which are outoff date, in that case user won't update the sheets, he will generate the PDF without sheet updation as it will take lot of time.
3. Some times saving may or maynot be required before we generate PDF

Thanks in advance
