Hello to all,

I am new to this forum and I am trying to solve a AutoCAD problem.

I just loaded AutoCAD Civil Series 2004 and I am trying to download data from our Geodat 500 data collector. I used to use Eaglepoint to do this but the license was on the server. Everytime the server was updated, the license had to be updated as well. We decided on Civil Series for the total AutoCAD package.

When I tried to download my data within Civil Series i get a communications error. I know the cable is OK, I have tried different COM ports software and physical as well. As Murphy's Law states, "Anything can happen and at the worst time". I have a project on my collector that I must get ASAP. I tried backing up and using Eaglepoint but as my luck would have it, it does not work now either.

I have contacted AutoCAD support but no luck as of this moment.

Sure could use some help!!!

Many thanks ahead of time

Ron

I am assuming that you are also using a geodimeter instrument with the gedat. I am not real sure how to address this as I only would use a geodat as a backup device for extremely large projects. But here goes. The problem is most likely a compatibility issue so as a possible work aroud for now try uploading the file from your geodat to the total station then try downloading directly from the instrument. If I knew exactly what equipment you are using I might be able to answer your dilema a little better

I am using Geodilite 504 total station. The data collector works fine as I checked it today. There is no activity with the collector when I hook it up to my work station. No upload, download or anything. I have screen captures that will help clarify the problem. Do you know how to do attachments?

If you want send your screenshots as an attachment to my e-mail
