Guys,

As per NFPA 13 8.1.8 sprinklers shall not be required in the air handling unit rooms not intended for occupancy.

I have a FAHU room outside of the building; the contractor refuses to provide an automatic fire suppression system (water sprinkler based) and only fire extinguisher.

I am not satisfied with this system with only fire extinguisher; can you guys throw some light on this system? Acceptable or not and your experience.

A totally separate building or directly attached to the main building??

If totally separate how many sq ft?

Is this a building with the air handlers inside add in you can walk around the inside of the building. And, not inside the air handlers??

What the heck is a FAHU room? What is the height and area? What does the building code require? What is the building's occupancy classification? What is the construction classification of the building and the FAHU room?
