My question to the experts is this- When preparing a prequalified wps for FCAW-G using E71T-9/0.045" wire and 75/25 shielding gas is it allowable for example to list amperage as 150 - 180 +/- 10% and voltage as 22.0 - 28.0 +/- 15% and travel speed as 4.0 - 10.0 ipm +/- 25%, provided these values fall within the manufactures recommendations for this wire/gas combination. Base material is a Group II. Thank you for your help.

The ranges listed by the WPS should already have the permitted ranges listed. Don't expect the welder to be a mathematician.

If you are new to writing WPSs, there is a three day seminar available. The next seminar is scheduled for October 2019. The contact for more information is listed in an AWS publication:"Inspection Trends". You can probably locate the AWS Website for the publication with a quick search of the internet.

I just did a search using the name of the seminar, "The Atlas of Welding Procedure Specifications" and found a couple of hits. The email address of the contact person is listed.

Best regards - Al

For "prequalified' the power supply must be constant voltage.

If you wanted consistent sound welds, probably not.
