I'm trying to "move" my default origin/coord. system to a new location. I created a new axis system for my cylinder along the parts axis/ centerline but at the opposite end of the part. (X=0, Y=-2.75, Z=0 --> position from default origin). I want this point to be my new 0,0,0 so I can place coord. dims using this as the new reference.

I think my problem is in the set-up of the axis to axis transformation feature. I just cannot get this new axis system to default to 0,0,0 as the part continues to reference the default origin.

if you are in V4 you cannot move the default axis but if you make your new axis the active one your coord. dim'ns should ref back to it.
In V5 you can do the same by again making your new axis the active one.

Thanks for the info 1oldcaduser. I'm able to define this new "origin" within the part model without an issue but for some reason I cannot get my 2D drawing to recognize this point as 0,0. I tried inserting a new view as a "shot in the dark" because even after an update cycle, the 2D drawing still defines the default origin as 0,0.

Many thanks!!

In V5 you must create the view from the axis on your part. Select 'front view' in your drawing and go to the catpart. Then you must select in the tree the new axis before creating the view. This should make the view zero axis the same as your part axis. If you are creating a coordinate dimension table you must also select your axis in the table before you make the chart.
I hope I haven't confused you
