OK,I have a simple question,I would like to know how to change the (default)light gradiant background color to a dark gradiant background color and have the dark one be
the defualt one everytime I launch NX and create a new model file.I would also like for the same dark gradiant background to be the same in true shade mode and all the other shader modes by defualt.

Thanks NX 8 win 7 64

I'm also interested how to do it. Any suggestions?

Search for background in Customer Defaults, change to color you wish. If that doesn't work, open your template part, change the background color in the preferences, save it. Done.

Thanks,The template save works for me,I will take another look at the customer defults but I am sure I tried that a bunch of times with no good results.

If you work in company where you have no write acces to your customer defaults, then why not create create your own button and add it to a tool bar of your choice with a journal attached to is so all you do is click it and it will instantly switch to the colour of your choice without having to go through all the button clicks in the preferences menu.

This is what I did to solve this issue
open the file model-plain-1-inch-template.prt
it was found in Program Files\NX 8.0\UGII\templates
Set the background to the color, save and exit

Thanks for the template file tip. For some reason on a few older installs we had to edit the ugcolor.cdf file in the ugii directory; the top entry is for the background and there was always some color specified for it. I edited the background color to 0,0,0 and only then was the background solid black. I will take a look at the blank template part file and try making the change there instead.
