Hello friends,

Need your advice regarding a balance point:

A 24L bucket (D=0.3m,H=0.34m) is to be filled with concrete. A 2.4m profile (50mm*50*2) is to be placed into the bucket before it solidifies. I intend to place a chemical identification sign at the top (or another height).

The question is, will the profile be stable because of the weight of the concrete or it will easily fall because of its height?

What is a 2.4m "profile"?? Do you mean a post?

IF the post is in the center and vertical and IF the bottom of the bucket is flat and on a horizontal firm surface then in the absence of any other forces (wind, someone leaning on it etc) then it should stay vertical.

But you need to define better.

It Is just as you described it. profile is a square post and it is placed outdoors.

Apparently , your problem is sign post and it's foundation. This topic is discussed at several posts. You may search the previous with the wording ( sign post, sign mast ...)

The mast (square 50mm*50*2) and the concrete footing (D=0.3m,H=0.34m) shall be checked for strength and stability... . The basic loading is wind ..so the size of sign and wind zone are parameters...

Just rule of thumb:If the size of the sign 0.25 sq-m and if the concrete footing (D=0.3m,H=0.34m) is buried it should be OK..

 
It will be stable, but it won't take much force or wind speed to make it fall over, especially if your sign is at 2m high. You would be much better using a 600 x 600 x 30 paving stone and bolting the post to the centre. Or burying the bucket.
