Really struggling in UG drafting. Placed parts list and autoballooned the drawing. Now I'd like to;

- Create multiple attachment points for the same balloon in one view
- Create additional same numbered balloons in different views.

I'd like everything to be associative if possible. Can't even find a command to create a dumb balloon.

Searching the UG help for "balloon" brought back very little info.

NX6

Thanks...

loworange88, (NX6)I have a the same issue, I was able to place manual empty ID symbols and then by updating the parts list the correct attribute would be displayed by the respective ID callout,
exactly as described by John R Baker, it could have been: part name, material, stock size.....whatever I needed for the particular drawing. Now for some stange reason this does't work anymore.....I'm using the same drawing template...Autoballoon works fine but places a callout for every part, something I don't need, and frankly I find organizing the Autoballon placement very tedious.....
I have tested this on another installation in the office with the same software release and everything works just fine.....at one point I thought the problem must lie with some customer default that I must have changed....so I cleared all values on my computer and tried again....but no joy.
I am now considering re-installing the software as I can't think of any other solution.

To get empty ID symbols to update from a parts list you need to have the following variable set:
UGII_UPDATE_ALL_ID_SYMBOLS_WITH_PLIST=1

Simplest way to do that:

Win XP: Windows Control Panel -> System -> Advanced (TAB) -> Environment Variables
or
Win 7: Windows Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings (Upper left) -> Environment Variables

Create a new USER variable called:
UGII_UPDATE_ALL_ID_SYMBOLS_WITH_PLIST

set the value to
1

Now if you update the parts list, any ID symbol that has a leader from a component will update.
