Gents,

Attached are a photo of a self lubricated journal bearing installed on the drive end of a centrifugal pump driven by 5.5kv

motor.

The bearing failed after being heated up then the temeprature transmitter sent a high temperature alarm(setting alarm: 85 C).

I would be grateful if you could help me on finding the bearing failure causes based on the attached photos by interpreting

the impacts on it. Please note that only the lower half of the bearing which was affected.

Thank you.

Unless I'm looking at photographic artifacts, I'd guess severe misalignment, as in being installed without the hollow dowels around the retaining bolts.

Hello,

I would inform you that the bearing bolts were equipped with hollow dowels but not shown on the attached picture above.

Thanks

Well, I don't have another way to explain the apparent asymmetry.

... except that maybe something got bent.

... like the narrative about what really happened, while on its way to you.
