I've had quite a bit of experience in building structural design. I now want to look into bridge structural design. I'm looking for recommendations for workshops, books or websites where I can learn basic and advanced bridge design. I would appreciate any help I can get on this.

Thank you for this response. However, I'm looking to narrow the information down a bit.

I'm looking for short courses on bridge design. I didn't see any education type seminars on the website, just meetings.

I'm also looking for specific recommendations for text or other publication. I know AASHTO sells a lot of publications. Are there any specific recommendations you may suggest I start with?

The latest AASHTO LRFD.

PCI has a good online resource called the "Bridge Design Manual" which is aimed at prestressed concrete bridge structures. I have used this reference quite a bit.

Try Christian Menn: Prestressed concrete bridges, 1986. The best book on the subject of prestressed bridges.

In my Bridge Design class last fall we used Barker and Puckett's "Design of Highway Bridges An LRFD Approach" - it was pretty helpful.

Check out your states DOT website. Most have design guides which help some. If your state does not have one, check out Minnesota's. It is one of the better that I have found.

"Bridge Engineering: Rehabilitation, and Maintenance of Modern Highway Bridges" by Tonias & Zhao

Warning! This book is not updated to the new edition of the code. I contains old load factors and doesn't refer you to the AASHTO at all, so there is no way to check to see what has changed.

It is great for general knowledge about bridges, but don't count on it for design examples.

Does anyone have a nice simple steel line girder design example anywhere (ASSHTO LRFD please)?
