hi there..
i want to design a bucket elevator for my next new company project but i have no experience to design it
what is the meaning of 'head take up' and 'boot take up'?
how does it's calculation?
thanks for your help

Bucket elevators always have some means of taking up the slack and maintaining the tension of either the chains or belt to which the buckets are attached. So :-
1) 'head take up' means this is at the driving head of the elevator (the top where the material discharges)
2) 'boot take up' means this is at the boot (the bottom where the material is fed in)

If you have no experience in designing bucket elevators then suggest you search for some materials handling books that cover bucket elevator design and read up on the subject.
