HI

What tests/measurements can be done to test condition (not damaged or close to damage) of already installed and live instrumentation cables (analog and digital) and what are the criteria for good cables. Any international standard or procedure followed on this subject?

There are dozens of methods to test cables and wiring, check your suppliers
 
I believe Time Domain Reflectometry is used on difficult to access cables.
 
The nuclear power plants are facing aging issues with the installed cabling so they've been doing some work on testing.
