I'm 3rd Year Undergraduate Student.I'm doing a project in which I am to do a Static Linear analysis and find out the susceptibility to Progressive Collapse.
Initially I want to start with GSA 2003 Guidelines because they are lot simpler than 2013 ones and Once I get a feel of things,It would be easy to move to a advanced level.
1.My First Question is Can I directly get Expected Strength Values(Demand) for Elements from Computer Softwares (For e.g. Etabs)
//Comment- A lot of similar research papers used Initial analysis results (without removing Column) as Expected Strength of member.I think That's B.S.
Do I have manually calculate the expected Strength Values in Spreadsheet software?
2) My next question is related to calculation of DCR of Columns.Suppose I want to calculate expected Strength of Column.Columns are usually subjected to Axial Force and Biaxial Moments and we have to Consider Interaction Between Axial Force/Moments.
In beams we consider DCR for shear and Moment Seperately but i Think this is not possible in case of Columns as there is interaction Involved. So How can we calculate DCR for Columns?(I looked up in my RCC book and there they have only given the way to design using Interaction curves...No talk about strength)
