Thank you! I think this is a software that many designers use. A lot of designers and contractors have sent this type of calculations to me. Same kind of diagrams and the report format and everything. and it looks great too. Just wondering what the software name isI haven't kept up with wood design for a while. A decade or so back, truss shop drawings (design drawings) showed similar information. In these environs each truss manufacturer had his own software. They were often provided by the company that provided the supplier with material.
I signed up, too, and this is what I'm hoping to use it for. Tables are great for run of the mill projects, but it would be nice for some of the unique stuff to be able to trial solutions without having to go through a manufacturer.I think it can do all the TPI strength checks for each member and the connections. I just spent weeks making a spreadsheet for that and now this free program comes along…
I can see myself using it for strength evaluations of existing trusses. But I think the developers want engineers to start using it for prelim design to help streamline the delegated design process. Probably really useful for sizing floor trusses early in a project.
Especially when a significant portion of truss jobs end up circling back to us 9 months after we sent out CD's for them to say "BuT 14 iNcH tRuSsEs WoN't WoRk". Yeah we tried to tell you to check with truss guy first but nah, you'd rather wait until 2 floors are built before checking to see if they work.I signed up, too, and this is what I'm hoping to use it for. I just use span tables for most jobs. I have back calculated the strength and stiffness of common floor trusses based on these tables and use that when needed.Probably really useful for sizing floor trusses early in a project.
