Hello
i have a flange which is slightly same as the sketch of ASME Sect VII Div1 Fig 2-4 (4a) but with the bevel weld at the back of the flange. what type should it belong to? since the optional type flange got one of the sameness where they all got the bevel weld on the back of flanges. Can anyone of you offer some clauses that can support my point of view???

I'm not sure I understand your configuration. What you describe sounds like the figure 8 optional flange. Can you clarify?

actually this configuration is not in any skectches in fig -2, it look like sketch 4a but as you know, the back of the flange in sketch 4a don't have any bevel weld. my design got bevel weld on the back of the flange and the weld size (at the back of flange) will follow the requirement of sketch 8. i just want to know can i treat it as an optional type flange so that i can choose whether i want to design it as integral or loose type. does AMSE address this ????
