I have a reuse assembly (5 separate reuse families with the template parts constrained together in an assembly) that controls which components of the individual part families to display via the assembly's part family spreadsheet.

What I am trying to do is add PMI to the assembly that points to each reuse component and displays its description and part number. Is there a way to do this? I tried entering <W$=@DB_PART_DESC> (same as part's list formatting) into the Formatting box of the PMI Note dialog, but NX doesn't understand what that means.

The ultimate goal would be to have PMI pointing to each component of the assembly, and as the assembly's family members get generated, the assembly family members carry the PMI through and update to display their family members' descriptions and part names.

Try this <WRef0*0@"attribute name"> for the attribute name put in the name of the attribute that you would like referenced. For DB_PART_DESC you would type in this <WRef0*0@DB_PART_DESC>.

Found a way to get NX to find the correct syntax. Under the Text Input -> Symbols collapsible windows, you can change the Category to Relationships and select Insert Object Attribute. The syntax is brings in for Part Number and Description is:
PN: <WRef1*0@DB_PART_NO>
DESC: <WRef2*0@DB_PART_DESC>
