Recently purchased 16 oz singed polyester bags for dust collectors for a lime plant. The boxes that hold the bags got wet and I was worried that hydrolysis ruining the bags. I consulted the bag supplier, and I was informed that the bags could be used as long as they were air dried. I was told that hydrolysis would occur if the bags were heated to 180 deg F. Does anyone know how true the above statement is, and has anyone used bags that were dried without any performance issues?

It's more of a time at temperature thing - polyester in cold or lukewarm water will hold up for a long time and is used as a wet filter fabric in those conditions, but as the temperature climbs it can suffer hydrolysis more and more rapidly. 180F is the general long-term use limit in submerged water exposure.

You are talking about room temperature water exposure, in the boxes, I would not think that is an issue. As far as drying - polyester gets washed and dried all the time (think of your golf shirts) without much deterioration, but controlling the drying temperature is probably not a bad idea (I'd just hang them up somewhere at room temperature if I was worried).
