I created a contact interaction in CAE. Now I can't seem to edit it. Specifically, I can't edit the initial clearance, which I have set to "Uniform value across slave surface: 0". I want to remove this initial clearance. However, it is not an editable field now, for some reason. I am trying to edit it in the initial Step, in which it is created. I am probably missing something obvious here. Any help would be appreciated!

It should be possible to edit it in the Initial step. Is it grayed out or is there a message like "Clearance can only be used with small sliding" in place of the setting ? Which version of Abaqus are you using ?

It is simply greyed out. I am using Kinematic contact with small sliding. When I spit out my input file, the *Clearance keyword is there. But I can't seem to get rid of it in CAE. I am using Abaqus 2019.

I thought that you are using Abaqus/Standard but it turns out that it's Abaqus/Explicit. In such a case you may have to move the contact definition to the analysis step. It can be done in the Interaction Manager - select Created under Initial and click Move Right for this interaction. Then you should be able to edit the initial clearance setting.

That worked! Thank you for the help. Would have responded earlier, but I got moved off this job for a bit and am just now picking it up.
