Getting this error while trying to open up a nx part. The part is a manufacturing file that has linked bodies. The assembly the linked bodies are based on opens ok. There was a lot of work done on this file is there a way to get it opening again?

Sometimes a part cleanup will fix errors. Since you cannot open the file in NX, you will need to use an external utility that ships with NX. In the Windows start menu, navigate to the NX program group and start up the "tool - NX command prompt". On the command prompt, enter:
Code:
part_utility -managed_mode=no -cleanup "D:\fixture\FIXTURE_.prt"

This will attempt a part cleanup on the fixture part. If it completes successfully, try to open the file in NX. If you still get errors, contact your VAR or Siemens support.

Can you open the part using Structure Only in the Assembly Load Options ?
Then do the part cleanup.

Thanks, I tried it but the same error was reported in the command prompt cleaner,

Its not a problem with the MSVCDir. The part cleaner ran and it gave the error dimension subscript for an array attribute was out of range or invalid.

I would contact Siemens Customer Support (AKA 'GTAC') and see if they can help. They often have access to tools which can get inside a part file and correct issues like this. Of course, you'll need to provide them with you part files.

Array attribute indexing was quite broken in the first few releases when they appeared (NX8-N10). It got all fixed eventually (by 11 or so).

One other thing beside calling upon GTAC you can try is opening that part in the version it was created (or last edited in).
