the thread "Cantilever Sheet Pile Wall Design - Granular Soils"

thread507-489534

was extremely interesting. Would it be possible to do something similar for Cohesive Soils?

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

Both of these threads should be in the earth retention systems category.

If you want a better understanding of flexible wall design in cohesive soils, I suggest reading books from reputable sources and/or commentary from codes on the subject matter.

We used this for a recent cofferdam, has clear guidance and some worked examples.

Thanks Liam; I'll take a gander.

Thanks Rick; I agree, but Structures seems to be a better 'hangout' area for all engineers, it seems.

The topic for granular soils was a enjoyed, and appreciated and it would be nice to have a similar discussion for cohesive soils.

dik, on pages 362-364 of Teng's 1962 book, Foundation Design, there is information on his conventional and simplified methods for designing cantilevered, non-gravity, sheet pile walls in cohesive soils, a) undrained with cohesion and b) drained where c = 0 and phi is used to make the analysis like his simplified method for granular soils.
For other similar discussion see thread507-489534.

Will take a gander at Teng's book... thanks

I can find no reference to it on CIRIA's website; do you have a link?

Thanks, Eire... will try to chase that one down...
