We have purchased used caterpillar engines model 3516A. Now we have to prepare foundation for its installation. Can somebody provide its footing drawings as we have no related drawings/foundation details.

Call your Cat dealer and ask for an applications engineer.

The dealer can help you. It sounds like the application & installation (A&I) guide is what you need. They are available in many languages, and the dealers generally provide them free of charge. Are the engines for gas compression, or for another type of application?

That may depend on a sub frame or skid that may or may not have been supplied by Cat. I have seen virtually identical Cat gen sets side by side with noticeably differently sized base frames. Between wrong drawings and wrong contractors, I long ago gave up on presetting anchors. I wait until the machine is on site and then drill and set anchors. That is easier if there are not already preset anchors in the wrong place. I am happy if I can get enough information that the foundation is as large as the set. Even the I have had to enlarge concrete foundations when the set arrived and was too wide for the foundation. Not a lot of fun.
On a used machine,- Can you have someone dependable measure the machine base for you?
I did the electrical hookup on one where the customer was responsible for the mechanical installation. The skid rails were about 8 inches wider than the foundation and they went ahead and put it on the foundation any way. That was a real balancing act.

Thank you guys for your replies. The problem is that the company from which we have purchased these engines have no drawings. Also when I contacted the cater pillar local dealers for help, they regretted and showed their inability to provide the required drawings. The problems is that the engines have not yet arrived at site, and we want to construct its foundation for saving time. If anybody have the drawings with the help of which we are able to construct the foundation, it will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

are these gensets packages, compression packages, loose engines, or what? Diesel or gas?

Are you looking for just the engine footprint or the whole genset? Also, if they're not a Caterpillar packaged genset you'll have no idea what you're getting for a footprint.

Ask your local Cat dealer for the GERP (Gas Engine Rating Pro) CD, it has drawings (even 3D models of some engines) as well as all the info you'll need for designing your installation.

I have drawings but can not share them with you without Caterpillar's consent.

I may have the information you need. It will take a day or so. Like the fellow above, is this just the engine? Or is it a Genset? I do not know if they are different between arrangements and from year to year.
