Hello all,

I have seen that there are some professionals in this forum in VBA programming of catia V5.

I am totally new in this topic so could you please give me information where I can find tutorials, books where I can start learning Catia programming?

If some of you have
CATIA V5: Macro Programming with Visual Basic Script (Dieter Ziethen)
Book, I really appreciate to you if you could send me a link where I can find it.

Best wishes,

Hello,

I don't know can you learn a lot from books, best practice is to record macro try to understand it, search web and this forum for solutions. On this forum you can find a lot of good stuff and also a lot of topics are covered.

I think Visual Basic is much better option if you want to start with VBA. Visual Studio is free, you can visit my website to see more: Also there will be more posts in the future.

I think macro selection is good start point: also this post too

Hello

Well, be prepared for the future... no record option in new CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE 2019x on CLOUD ..or at least I cannot see it...

I have learned it the hard way on my own with help mainly on this forum. If I would have to do it again then first I would probably buy Emmett Ross book "VB Scripting for CATIA V5: How to program CATIA macros (English Edition). It is cheap but very basic. Then I would continue with Dieter Ziethen book which is a little bit more expensive. You could find both books on amazon.

If you cannot afford the books then you have to take the hard way, find some basic tutorial on youtube and learn from it. Find some macros on this forum (or other) and try to see how it works and play with them. When you will fail, ask on this forum and most of the time you will receive help. Off course, search on this forum for Ferdo macros collection which will guide you with many examples.

In my experience I could rarely use something recorded.

They can't take us Record [bigglasses]
What is that Visual Studio Tools, is it integrated now?

Yeah, thank you guys.
I have bought Emmett Ross book. It's quite detailed and easy to understand firstly.

But I have seen there aren't any topics about drafting module, and I couldn't find any topics about that.

Do you have any good source for understanding the drafting module programming, or first what are you recommending?

Hello,

I'm willing to share some of my learning experience.I'm in learning, too.

As the people upstairs said, the best practice is to record macro and try to understand it.
I used to record macro ,then test each statement until i understand.
Although there are a lot of error, but I grew up quickly!

Of course,"V5Automation.chm" which you can find in the installation directory of CATIA software,
is also a very good instruction book.It has a lot of code and instance to Practice, also include Drawing.

Futher more, the content in this forum is enough for beginners to learn .Come on!!!

I hope it can help you out, thank you!
