Can anyone offer leads or specific information regarding the observed temperature of cavitation implosions? My primary concerns are in the 20 thru 2,000 psi pressure range but any information will be helpful.
Quoting from Karasik and others' Pump Handbook (McGraw-Hill) page 2.214: "Controlled experiments with water indicated that the damage to metal depends on the liquid temperature and was a maximum at about 100 to 120[sup]o[/sup]F (38to 49[sup]o[/sup]C." The whole chapter deals with cavitation and it is enlightening in many respects.
