changing model dimensions ?? V4

Hi

i have recieved a model from a customer but... the model dimension defined in the standard/model is set to 10,000 the problem is we work to 5,000 how do i change the 10,000 one to 5,000 ???

start a new 5,000 model and merge ??? or use the catoler util to check it, or can ot change the file for me. or give up and ask them to send me an iges file ????

This is a common problem. The question is - do you need to modify
the Space elements? If not, then just use it for whatever you need to
do.

"Merging" the model into a model set at 5000 is the usual way to
"Fix' the problem. Just remember that you should only "Merge" what
you need. Doing a "wholesale" merge will bring in elements that you
may not need, or want. Changing the model after this can sometimes
cause problems with fillets, etc., but usually happens when you are
going to a "Larger" Model Dimension, not a smaller one. The problems
can be fixed with UPDATE, but Fillets may disappear sometimes.

The other way, is to change the "Model Dimension" to 5000 and then
"update" ALL the Solid elements using SOLIDE > UPDATE > FORCE > YES.
You will also have to update all the Surfaces, Faces and associated
elements. This is a lot more work and you can miss elements, details,
etc.

If there are only DRAW elements in the model, then there should be
no problems.

An IGES file is not as good as a CATIA file.
