Chlroine Pipe Tichkness

We use chlorine to filter out impurities from aluminum and recently we were audited on our system. The auditor stated we need to adopt a program to monitor wall thickness for the pipe. I know chlorine will wear pipe walls at high velocity and with water. Can anyone suggest where to measure at? I am looking at 3x dia and 4 points along the circumference. Is this too much?

If this is erosive/corrosive service, I suggest determining which elbows of the system have the highest velocity and monitoring those.

I would only inspect (UT) the "downstream half" of the elbows for metal thickness.

EPRI, some years back, developed a piping inspection program for feedwater piping systems. Within that program were guidelines about selection of points for piping wall thickness verification.

Is this a stainless steel system ?

If so, is this 5S or 10S stainless piping ?

The pipe is 3/4" CS, SW. The total length is approximately 500 feet long ranging to ground level to 50 feet above.

How do you mean "down stream?"

Also, I am looking at a StressTel T-Mike EL datalogging as my ultrasonic thickness gauge. Have you a personal experience with them or do you recommend another product?
