I have a final year project on tail gas processes selection. Would it be possible to model the tail gas process using HYSYS just to get a rought estimate of energy requirement for each process? I cannot get an access to sulphur recovery software (e.g. SULSIM, CLAUSIM, TSWEET) and my school only has an access to HYSYS.

If your school has access to HYSYS have you considered approaching makers of the other software mentioned and ask them for a free copy for your project?

Remember to tell the software vendors that your would prefer to use their software (and gain experience and thus be more likely to continue using it as an engineer) but that you will have to use HYSYS unless they lend/give you the software?

Best regards

Morten

I'm not sure which of the tailgas processes you are trying to model. I am familiar with the SCOT process. You can model the process on HYSYS. The amine section is a challenge without the amine add-in on HYSYS but can be done. The HYSYS model is pretty detailed.
If you are comparing processes I would suggest you use a simple excel type simulation. It will give you 80% of the answer for 20% of the effort.
