I am wanting to write data to a CF device. Does anyone know the quickest way to do this and what is the maximum speed I might expect?

It is for a portable, battery operated device, for data acquisition.

Now what about USB devices are they quicker, can a USB memory stick be used as a standalone storage device or does it have a driver overhead that might make it difficult to implement.

Cheers
Chris

Max speed of Compact Flash (or other memory cards) is hard to define as every manufacturer tryes to make faster cards and so speeds rise rapidly.

Easyest way to make data storage for data aqcuisition system is probably not by Comapct Falsh (as that needs IDE interface) but by some more modern card type. I once used MultiMediaCard (MMC). That is much easyer to interface as it uses three-wire interface but is still fast enough to be used even in digital cameras.

Raivo,

Thanks for the help. I was heading toward MMC because there are some helpful sites on the web already.

Are you able to give me some brief descriptions of your previous work with MMCs ?

Cheers
Chris
