We have a compressor station with 70,000 SCF in station piping. There is a Discharge (575) header with 6" blowdown valve and a suction header (300) with 6" blowdown valve.
During ESD both blowdown valves open. The 575 will enter the vent pipe first to the silencer. Downstream of the blowdown pipe is 20 ft. of 6" then 180 ft. of 10" sch 40. There is an enlarger 6 to 10 and a 10" branch T and 10" run T. The silencer was bought for 50 psi drop. Question: We think the 6" goes sonic establishing the flow. From this flow you calculate the other friction losses. This give approx. loss of 180 psi. I think these assumptions are right, then pressure at inlet flange of silencer is 395. Is this right? Does anyone have progams that models accurately.
