Computed Radiography Image Plate Fading

I have a question for anyone out there using photostimulable phosphor imaging plates in computed radiography. Is it normal for the image plate to retain images after scanning? The G.E. Rhythm system with G.E. plates and the CR50P laser scanner. The scanner is supposed to erase the plates as it scans. The problem I am having is the removal of latent images on the plates as well as the loss of sensitivity with the more x-rays taken on the plate. I have been able to remove the latent images by exposing the plates to white light for an extended period of time, this is not practical in a production environment. The loss of sensitivity, the ability to image the 2-2t hole using ASTM E 1742 IQI's(penetrameters) is noticable after three exposures. This is an unacceptable issue when dealing with aerospace hardware. Any comment or infomation will be appreciated.

It is not normal for the plate to retain an image after passing through the processor. You may have to get the light in the internal of the processor checked. The plates should retain sensitivity for approximately 10,000 exposures.

For the price we pay for these units, I would call your customer rep immediately if you haven't already.
