We have the concrete floor finishing requirements within our master cast-in-place concrete specification Section 03 30 00. But most architects want us to give them a separate Section for concrete floor finishing. So I am going to make a master Concrete Floor Finishing Section 03 35 00, and remove the floor finishing paragraphs from Section 03 33 00.

Question:

Is it ok to put only the finishing requirements in this Section 03 35 00 (example: where steel trowel type finish is required, where wood float finish, and the required tolerances) but not put any other concrete requirements in this Section (i.e. concrete strength, additives, curing, concrete testing, etc. would all be in Section 03 30 00 Cast-in-Place Concrete). What is usually included in Concrete Floor Finishing Section?

We do it all the time. We have a specification, 03300, called Cast In Place Concrete. Separately, we have a specification, 03366, called "Tooled Concrete Finishes." Its title seems pretty scary, but it just has the standard slab finishes (S1 through S5) and wall finishes (F1 through F5).
We've also put the finish schedule on the drawings, but this seems to have fallen out of style (maybe just with us). I suspect if you do a google search of 03366, you'll hit everyone's specification for this. Just borrow one, and soon, it will be your own.

If you need to clarify, there is always the "Related Work Specified Elsewhere" paragraph of each Spec Section.
