In the manual, beam section property, I read something about "L", which can be specified offset to use for a shell stiffener.
I understand this is like to define the real contact surface with shell by specifying this "L".
But how am I supposed to check it?

(The global resutls are actually bizarre. The stiffened shell showed softer than non-stiffener one.)

Thanks a lot.

Is this a riddle ?

Some remarks on your post:
Assuming the your problem relates to ABAQUS then:
1. Which manual, chapter ? (The ABAQUS manual has more than 10 manuals, some of them have thousands of pages).
2. What is "L" , the cross section shape, a keyword option, a person :) ?
3. What does a real contact surface in the ABAQUS / FEA terminology refer to?

Sorry about that.
Generally, I want to check if the shell and beam contact is on the right surface of each item. As you know, beam has no surface to show on the viewer, right?

Cheers

Janna

As far as I know you can create an ABAQUS surface from the beam elements modeling a beam-like structure. Like any other surface it can be displayed in the Visualization module ->Tools->Display Group->Create ->Surfaces.
