We are looking to replace our 1991 version of IRD/Entek 6600 vibration monitoring equipment. We are currently looking at Bently Nevada, Entek and someone gave me the name of Emerson CSI. We have 6 identical GE F2 steam turbines. Each turbine has 6 journal bearings to monitor, eccentricty, Dual thrust, differential expansion on the HP and LP and HP case expansion.
.
Questions:
Does anyone have any experience with any of the above vibration companies on steam turbines? Good things and bad things.
.
Are there any other vibration companies that you would suggest investigating?

Are you just looking for monitoring, or monitoring and protection (TSI)?

Bently is basically the market leader and is now a division of General Electric. You can't go wrong with them. Competitors certainly worth considering include SKF Condition Monitoring, Vibrometer, Bruel and Kjaer, and Entek.

Emerson CSI has a nice product, but I don't think they do all the TSI functions, and in general are a diagnostic software package not a shutdown system.

Where are you? That may influence your choice.

Do you want diagnostic software as well or just the monitoring racks?

Do you have any kind of agreement with GE that you can leverage on Bently gear?

-The future's so bright I gotta wear shades! B-)

We are looking to monitor and protect. We have these options now.

I work at Electric Energy, Inc., a 1086 MW power plant in Joppa IL. That is on the southern tip of Illinois across the Ohio from Kentucky.
.
We will want diagnostic software. Currently using Turbo Balancer for balancing needs.
.
We have no agreement with GE but we do use them for most of our important turbine jobs. They have already bid on this job.

does E S (turbo balancer) offer TSI now. I haven't spoke to him in a couple years

also, MD&A's CSD might, but they would want to include it in a controls retro fit

STI's CMCP500 series is a common retrofit for older IRD and Bently systems. With complete TSI functionality, now also available with dynamic data analysis. Power Generation is our largest market, happy to provide additional information and local references off-line.

I just stumbled on this message searching for TSI monitoring equipment.
have you checked out the possibility of using Shinkawa TSI equipment.
They have an office in he US:
If you still have the possibility, the i would include them in your possible suppliers list.

Everyone,

Thank you for your input. It is greatly appreciated.
