Can someone guide me to moment equations for multiple span continuous beams? Specifically, I need to design a 5-span continuous beam with point loads applied at various locations. Spans are 24'-2"/25'/25'/25'/24'-2".

Thanks.

In lieu of a structural computer program to solve this, you could also use Moment Distribution.

I do not know of a handbook showing 5 span continuous beams, but maybe someone else has run across one.

If this is concrete, the ACI manual has some general equations for multiple span design, but nothing specific. They are also for uniform loads. What type of loading do you have on the beams? All uniform?

You also need to consider skip loading in multiple span situations. If this is confusing to you, you really need to engage the help of a structural engineer.

3 moment equation is excellent candidate for this.

spats, nothing jumped out at me, looked in links and downloads ... do you have to be a member ?

spats,

Alex's corner is amazing. Thanks for the link.

rb1957,

No, you don't have to be a member.

none so blind (as those that will not see) ... didn't scroll down to the news items ... sigh

bsmet95,

Be careful of partial loading, this can cause higher moments than if all spans were fully loaded.

Two cycle moment distribution as published by PCA provides minimum and maximum positive and negative moments in all spans.
