Movia,

Can you not just export the Proe part as a STEP file?

Nev

sorry , i would have mentioned it earlier, i have already tried it by converting it step and iges, but the problem is the default axis is getting changed and as a result am getting the model in catia with different orientation. i.e y axis in pro-e is getting converted to z- axis in catia, you can try for any small part in proe by converting it to step. Then open it in catia. Then you can get very clear idea

Why not just insert that IGES file to Product in Catia and then manipulate the Part so that you can get the correct axis orientation. Then resave it as IGES or Step file. A workaround for people who doesnt have ProE and stuck with the IGES or STEP file. :))

thanks Rollerglider, but your method only suits only when dealing with parts. But i need to have a method so as it suits when dealing with big assembly and even to the parts inside that assembly.

Movia,

In Proe you can define a different coord sys to use when exporting.
Therefore create one that matches CATIA and export it based on this.

Look out for the option box in the lower right corner when exporting from Proe.

thanks nev99 , its a very good method, but even though i did many iterations to get it done, i was not able to get the suitable orientation, Can you please which is the axis needs to be rotated exactly,-thank you very much

Movia,

I just tried it in Proe.
I created a new coord system in Proe
so that it was the same as in CATIA and it worked fine.

Exported based on these coord sys.

Thanks nev99,

i was in vacation, thats why i could not reply to you thread, today i am trying to do in the method what you have mentioned, but i am not able to create coordinate system just similar to catia, can you please elaborate the steps a little further as how you are creating coordinate system in pro-e

thank you
