Is it possible to convert a TIF file to a CGM file and then import that into unigraphics to enable usable data.
Been given a tif file of a drawing and told its the only data available, not enough info to model so going back to old method of scaling the drawing to full size and measuring.
Using NX6
Any advice much appreciated.

I don't know if this is a follow up to a recent topic I noticed but as good a way as any is to bring in a Raster image from a tif file using Studio Tools. If you don't have the license for that then you may wish to play about with doing a similar thing via adding an image to drafting, granted that you may have to transfer the data to modelling after you finish your curve creation task.

If you are intent on using a rasterised tif then Photoshop, Corel or similar may support the output, but all you'll get are millions of indistinct little lines that you still need to sketch over to resolve the image to the curves that you'll need to model to. You will also find that no matter how you proceed you will need to scale your data to get it dimensionally accurate.

The thought that you can virtually see what you need as described by outlines within any image format produces a tantalising mirage effect which unfortunately the computer doesn't share any real appreciation of. It's frustrating unless you're used to it, but in general it is easier by far to sketch over the image itself.
