Hi folks,

[NX 7.5]

How do I copy the entire dumb body geometry of one part to another separate part without bringing the Model History with it? Being a logical sort, I would have thought that Copy | Paste of the Solid Body would have done just that - after all if I wanted the whole part I could just File | Import | Part - but no, Copy | Paste of the Solid Body brings the history too.

Please help.

Thanks.

Dave

Export a parasolid and import that into your other part.

What ewh said.
Or, use export part with the 'remove parameters' option.

If you set your selection filter to Faces only, select your faces, CTRl C copy, then CTRl V paste into the other model you want these faces in. Now you may have to do an unsew and sew of a surface to turn this into a solid body.

Before doing your Copy & Paste, do an...

Edit -> Feature -> Remove Parameters...

...then Copy & Paste the 'body' to your other part file. Remember of course to NOT Save the model you just removed the parameters from or do an Undo before saving it.

Hi all,

Thanks for this. A few options to choose from there, I'll have a play.

BTW, this is OT but I've got nowhere with asking the forum management (no replies)... I'm not in Nuclear anymore, I've moved into Automotive, how do I get my sector changed in my profile as there isn't a section for it?

Dave, a change in your 'classification' should be forthcoming.

Note that I'm a member of the so-called 'Round Table', a small select group of Eng-Tips members who've been given access to a private forum where issues pertaining to the day-to-day operation of Eng-Tips are aired and discussed. We also advise the powers-to-be as to what sort of enhancements we would like to see as well as make comments on suggestions coming from management. In that capacity, I've passed along your issue and have been told that your request will be honored.

use "tranform" to create a copy of the body in the same position of the original
ctrl+c of the new body
change part
ctrl+v
return to the first part and delete the copy (without risk to lose parameter)
