Hello,

Does anyone use a cost estimating software to streamline and organize design options? Currently in the concept phase of design I am creating multiple spreadsheets with component costs, labor, etc to calculate an end product cost for a finished goods product. This gets a bit out of hand when trying to maintain multiple design options and scenarios. I have to imagine that someone has a software program that is capable of simulating various what if options for volume, design, labor etc.

Anyone using something that is a bit more involved than excel or a static cost roll up from CAD?

Most any PLM tool should be able to handle cost rollups for various BOM configurations, including estimated usages. Ultimately, cost per part and cost per 100 are both variables that can easily be input into any similar database that you can configure a BOM from.
