COTs and DATA Room Drafting Standards 1

I have been working on doing some data room drawings and COTs implementation drawings. Was curious if there were any spcific standards out there to make sure i am meeting standards for these types of drawings.

For example a set of drawaings of a data room with several racks of COTs equipment, their specific wiring locations and other pertinent data.

Is this a formal set of engineering drawing, or are you just trying to rack information? Much of the discussion on this forum is about drawings that go out to other organizations, and that are called up on purchase orders and contracts.

If your drawings are internal to your company and data room, you can do whatever you damn well please. It sounds like you need to get your job done.

I recalled years ago I worked with a guy that had this type of certification.

Purhaps they will have some recommendation of wire locations you talk about. Of course, this is the first time I've heard anything like this hear so I could be Completely Off Topic.

Thanks Leeekim, i will looks through those standards mentioned on that wiki page.

drawoh, the question is simple, and inferring someone else does not do their job is, imho being quite an ass.

The drawings i do for each data center include Multiple Racks, the interconnections between those racks, the interconnection between components in those racks, the connections to external sources in and outside the physical data room. The drawings are created for Installation usage, and delivery to the customer. For 18 Data rooms the drawings sets sometimes include over 200 drawings. I have read most of the ASME Y14 standards and have not come across anything specifially related to this.

So the qustion was simple enough. Are there professional drawing standards that refer to this type of drawing set, ( Thanks leeekim ) The drawings that we create are adequate, get the job done, but I would like to move to a professional standard if there is one.

I wasn't being a smartass.

When I prepare fabrication drawings, they get sent out of house, attached to purchase orders. I have to do assembly drawings and bills of material, so that our production people can figure out how to build the thing, and write the purchase orders. My fabrication drawings are interpreted by the people working for our contractors. The only way all this can be understood is if I follow drafting standards. I have to do my job, and I have to take into account a bunch of other jobs. Engineering organizations can be wildly multi-disciplinary.

Who will be using the drawings you prepare? Is it the electrician, or just you, an assistant, and your boss? Standards are way less important than you getting your job done, and not worrying about the other people who are not involved.
