Hi,

I want to create customized Sheet and Drawing templates.
But I got the error marked on red in the attached picture.
What options do I have in order to complete this task?

Either the part or the pax file (possibly both) are currently write-protected. Either modify these files so that you can overwrite them or save new files to a location where you have read/write access.

If you are setting up templates for a group of users, I suggest using NXcustom:
This is an unofficial utility created and maintained by Siemens employees that helps segregate your custom files from the main NX install. When run on a network location that everyone has access to, it helps manage files common to the entire group - such as drawing templates, custom menus, reuse library files, etc.

Thank you Cowski,

I will use NXcustom.
What happens if I will use the option pointed by the red arrow?

I'm not sure what that option does. I don't think it was available the last time I setup drawing templates. I just created my drawing files and edited the pax file manually (it is a plain text file).

Perhaps someone else can shed some light on that option.

Given that the pax file is a directory of templates available in the File-New dialog, not updating it will result in your new template not showing up on that dialog.

Bleaker,

Thanks for your reply.
What would you suggest in this matter?

Thanks,

It depends on what you want with the template.

If it's meant for local use on that machine - go ahead and select "update the pax file" (so you don't need to edit it manually).

If it's for distribution to other machines/user roles, there's probably no point in updating the pax file of your local installation.

I need to create a customized (for our company only) drawing Templates.
That's all I want.................
I can even use a different location (other than the Siemens).
A shared folder on which any team member can get access.
