Creating my own brand

Sorry if this is not the perfect spot to post such a thread , but i am thinking of making my own brand that manufacture geotechnical laboratory equipment
Although i am a geotech i have no knowledge or experience whatsoever of what it is necessary for such a project , be it in terms of personnel or needed equipment . To make things worst , there is practically no company that does manufacture such tests in my country , so i turn to you guys for recommendations and advises . I could maybe create a partnership with foreign brands who knows

Partnership is a good idea and likely you will find interested companies, but more likely as an agent for them for their equipment. I'd never try to compete with experience on these items.

Teaming would seem to make the most sense. How big is the market in your country? Who else in your country or in nearby countries provide this function? How much revenue are you going to need to survive more than a year? Are you going to provide field service and support?

Well to answer IRstuff the market as i said is empty and there is no local company that does this job and there are pretty much a lot of laboratories here ( especially those who survey the quality of concrete), Most of the supply comes from France but the price tags are a bit high, as for field serves and support i am not quiet sure about that since the only clients we will get are those who have decent experience and we will create revolutionary new concepts.

Will i need a mechanical engineer alone or with the help of an electrical guy too ?

This sentence is already troubling. If there are "a lot of laboratories here," then the market is not empty.

How are you going to create "revolutionary new concepts" without designers? What makes you think your concepts are so revolutionary compared to people that have already been in business for decades?

You might as well venture into pharmaceuticals or wrist watches or motorcycles.
Good geotechnical engineers (or civil engineers or...) do not necessarily make good manufacturing entrepreneurs.

If there are large quantities of testing companies, but a shortage of testing equipment availability, why not import and sell large quantities of foreign testing equipment? Ordering large quantities of foreign equipment will surely reduce per unit costs. Then the only challenge is selling! If you invest in manufacturing equipment, you will have MANY challenges before you can even START selling!

That's what most algerians think about : importing but neverr producing . Since the oil crisis has not ended the gov or should i say the ruling power has greatly diminished importation to preserve the stability of the country . testing companies all import from France, italy and in a lesser degree Germany

Just because you can, does not mean you should.

Is there a truly compelling reason that someone else would buy from you vs. a foreign company?

What are you going to offer that would entice someone to go with a complete unknown with no known legacy or heritage from an established supplier or design?

These, and many other questions, need to be answered in your business plan. The fact that you have no knowledge or experience nor even an innovative product idea would seem to be a showstopper to most people.

Yea i figured as much , what i was thinking about as a marketing asset would be the cost and time . You see shipping equipment from offshore countries is quiet expensive with the taxes and so on , not to mention should you ran out of certain disposable accessories for instance the steel balls in los angeles test your business will suffer as it is time consuming to get anything that quickly .
